Elaine and I are going to travel via Helsinki to Xian in Central China which is where the Silk Road starts in the East. From Xian, we travel to Kashgar in West China, which is closer to Turkey than to Beijing. We travel by car over the border to Kyrgyzstan, and spend the next few nights in yurts. We fly from Almaty just over the border in Kazakhstan to Tashkent, where we will meet up with Susie and Bruce. From Tashkent we go to Khiva, Bukhara, and Samarkand in Uzbekistan. Finally we travel to the Fergana Valley, for walking a bit, and then back toTashkent for the trip home via Moscow. That at least is the outline of the trip.
